Easter- April 8, 2012

Aidan and Nolan had an egg hunt on Easter day with their good friend, Parker. Please excuse Aidan's closed eyes- my blue-eyed boys have a hard time with sunny pictures! And, a rare picture of all of us together! Happy Easter!

Easter- April 8, 2012

The Easter Bunny came to our house!

Savannah, GA- April 6, 2012

At the end of our tour of the historic district, we visited Forsyth Park. A portion of the original colonial park in Savannah was turned into a 30 acre park which now houses a fountain, monuments, playgrounds and an outdoor stage. Lots of room to walk, run,and play only a few miles from downtown Savannah.
We look forward to visiting this one of a kind city again sans kids so we can again enjoy the beautiful architecture and landscaping and the night life of River Street!

Savannah, GA- April 6, 2012

Next up, touring the heart of the historic district- Savannah's architecture and squares.
These first pictures are of Mercer house and Monterey Square.
Mercer house was made famous in "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" (Great book!) since it is where Jim Williams lived. Monterey Square is right across the street and it is one of the prettiest squares.

Savannah, GA- April 6, 2012

We got off the ferry at the Waving Girl Statue. The waving girl statue is for a Savannah legend, Florence Martis, who greeted passing ships on the Savannah River for 44 years; it is estimated that she welcomed over 50,000 ships in her lifetime.
Walking one block up to Broad Street, was The Pirates House where we had lunch. The oldest house in the state of Georgia. It had been started as an inn for pirates and sailors in 1753 next to the Trustees Garden- the first experimental garden in America. From this garden, the first peach trees in Georgia were grown.
The boys liked their pirate hat menus and pirates walking around the restaurant.

Savannah, GA- April 6, 2012

We took a free ride on the Savannah Belles Ferry from one end of River Street to the other and got to experience River Street from the water.

Savannah, GA- April 6, 2012

After over 5 years of living in Georgia, we finally made it to Savannah!
First stop...River Street! Lots of cool shops, bars/restaurants and of course a stop in Savannah's Candy Kitchen for some handmade chocolate/pecan gophers and taffy!
Unfortunately, it was really cold for our day in the city and we were not prepared but we still had a fun time!

Hilton Head Island- April 3-5, 2012

For our last night in Hilton Head, we went to dinner at the Old Oyster Factory- built on the site of an original oyster cannery.
It is situated right on Broad Creek and has some neat back decks perfect for views and pictures of my handsome men! They loved throwing the old oyster shells around the restaurant into the water.
Chris enjoyed some oysters and we both had yummy Lowcountry shrimp and best hushpuppies ever!

Hilton Head Island- April 3-5, 2012

Everyone rides bikes in Hilton Head-the city has miles and miles of bike paths.
When the tide is low, the hard packed sand makes it great for bike riding. The boys had so much fun doing that.
Great experience for them!

Hilton Head Island- April 3-5, 2012

The boys spent most of their hours on the beach playing in the sand...
Check out Nolan's cool sand drawing- by the way, it is Medusa (there were eyeballs at the top of her hair where he is standing). I have the most creative kids!
They even got Chris to help them build sandcastles.

Hilton Head Island- April 3-5, 2012

For Spring Break, we headed to Hilton Head Island, SC. It was a place we had never been and had heard so many people in GA talk about- it did not disappoint!

Great location- we would go back again.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo overlooking the beautiful beach.
Proud to say I have raised two beach boys! As you can see from the pictures, they really enjoyed the sand and surf time!

Chris and Aidan's "Big Boy" Fishing Trip- April 2, 2012

Chris and Aidan went on their 1st "Big Boy" fishing trip today!
One of Chris' Christmas presents from Santa was a guided fishing trip on the Chattahoochee River (The Hooch). As much as he loves to fly fish, he really hasn't had the opportunity to do it here and I knew he missed it.
He decided to take Aidan along with him. So, 6am they both got up and traveled south.
Aidan had a great time and has already said he wants to do it again! He fly fished for most of the day and even hooked a rainbow trout himself.
Several rainbow trout were caught- as well as a "sucker" fish, according to Aidan.
They had a great father/son day!
